Barbering

I have never really decided what I want to do when I grow up. Seeings how I’m 54 years old that may present a problem, but not one I worry about very much. My most recent career move has been into Barbering. I’ve worked in several shops, owned a couple and find each shop has it’s own personality and “feel.” I’ve cut the hair of Congressmen and professional baseball players, cab drivers and Preachers. Everyone has a story and after many years working with tools and equipment and as an Engineer, I find the conversation and contact interesting and refreshing.

. . . and then there was,

Before Barbering, I worked at so many different jobs that I sometimes have a hard time remembering them all. I was a Mechanical Engineer, sheetmetal worker, gandy dancer (railroad builder) cook, sign painter and even spent three years teaching Computer Aided Drafting in a High School. Of all the careers I have had, I believe Teaching was likely my favorite, but trying to get along with public school administrators, watching the budget shrink every year and spending my own money for classroom supplies finally broke my enthusiasm. The students, their parents and the job itself was great though!
